July Events at Sedition Books
Whoa. Rain. We'd practically forgotten what that stuff looked like.
It's July and you know what that means! July marks the one year anniversary of Sedition Books at it's Richmond Avenue location. And we will be celebrating so keep reading this missive and mark your calendars for Sunday July 19th.
Sedition has been a bit quiet of late but we hope to remedy that situation with events and meetings like the one that the good folks from UH Students for a Democratic Society held at the Infoshop last week. They used the free meeting space to plan a demonstration at the Honduran Consulate and to make signs and banners. Check out the results here: http://houston.indymedia.org/news/2009/07/67700.php
We recently got in copies of AK Press's latest titles including a reprint of Louis Adamic's classic Dynamite: A History of Class Violence in America and Green Zone: The Environmental Costs of Militarism.
Sedition Books is located at 901 Richmond Avenue (That's one block east of Montrose) and you can call or check out our website for more info: 713 523 0807 or www.seditionbooks.org
As always. All events are free but we encourage donations for the infoshop.

Wednesday July 22nd
7:00 PM
Dinner and A Movie: A Fundraiser for Sedition Books
Dinner at 7:00 pm: A Mexican Feast
Movie at 8:00 pm: El Violin
In El Violin (2005, 98 min, Spanish with English subtitles) Don Plutarco, his son Genaro and his grandson Lucio live a double life: on one hand they are musicians and humble farmers, on the other they support the peasant guerrilla movement's armed efforts against the oppressive government. When the military seizes the village, the rebels flee to the sierra hills, forced to leave behind their stock of ammunition. While the guerrillas organize a counter-attack, old Plutarco executes his own plan. He plays up his appearance as a harmless violin player, in order to get into the village and recover the hidden ammunition.
